Cotton,Cotton / Linen mixes (Union) are common upholstery materials and offer hard wear and a variety of finishes dyed or printed. A prime example of this can be seen in our leather restaurant furniture category. They are natural materials and can stain and mark. Where covers are removable do not wash as any water-based treatment is liable to cause shrinking making the covers unusable.

Dry cleaning is possible with some materials by a specialist drycleaner in accordance with their advice. Always check the fabric manufacturers advice for cleaning at time of purchase.

If the stains, which you wish to remove, are only on one cushion be sure to treat them all the same way so that if there is any loss of colour it will not be noticeable. If using a dry-cleaning solution first test the solution on a not visible part of the fabric to ensure it does not affect the colour or cause ring stains. To remove an individual mark, apply the solution to the rear of the material directly behind the mark whilst holding a highly absorbent tissue or cloth on the front covering the mark itself. Renew the absorbent cloth regularly taking care not to smear the surface.
